Trippin' in Santa Fe [pt 1]

Post by mtmynd » March 19th, 2011, 2:54 pm

SooZen and I got away from Phar Lepht last weekend to Santa Fe, Nuevo Mexico, U.S.A.. Always a wondrous and amazing place to get away to... a place which despite it's size, is now the Numero 2 Art Market in the country (after NYC... and before L.A.)

It's been several years since yours truly has been up to Santa Fe, but my companion and soul mate has been up a few times without me. She was a great guide to take me about to some fine eating establishments and various venues which were spectacular.

Our first evening there we had dinner at Gabriels, a very nice place that had an ambiance that is very Southwest and food that was New Mexican and killer. They have 2 specialties of the house - guacamole made right at your table and their signature Margarita... which SooZen had two!

This picture, altho not my best shot, was of the spectacular mountainous area behind Gabriels at sunset... and the intensity of the light on the area contrasting with the shade was a bit difficult to capture -

After our meal we drove to downtown Santa Fe to the area adjacent to the central Plaza and did some walking around, sightseeing -

St Francis Cathedral (from West San Francisco St)
Note: It's said that no building in Santa Fe can be built higher than this Cathedral.

... a few pictures taken thru the window of a gift shop/gallery -

... and some Easter pictures taken inside the La Fonda Hotel's gift shops

... also taken in the Hotel (the shops were closed but the window's were brightly lit) -

... and finally, for this series, this tile work was also taken in the La Fonda Hotel -

Thx for this, Cec. Enjoyed. Spent the day today roaming around myself ahead of the season scouting out new kayakscapes. Came home to your own adventures posted here. Treats.
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

brings back memories... santa fe was never my favorite new mexico town, though it had the best food! can't believe it's been so long that we've all been hangin' out, cyber-swappin'. has it really been 6+ years since i said i was moving to new mexico? well who knows, i may yet...

I wish I were there to see these face to face,
they're truly wonderful, full of fantasy.
`Do you know, I was so angry, Kitty,' Alice went on...`when I saw all the mischief you had been doing, I was very nearly opening the window, and putting you out into the snow! And you'd have deserved it, you
little mischievous darling!
