The Datura flower lives for about 18 hours, coming to bloom in the late afternoon and achieving the full bloom after sunset. These were taken in our backyard with a flash, in a flash.

yerba del diablo

Makes me think of Castaneda, the datura and the two lizards, one with it's eyes stitched shut, the other with it's mouth stitched up.

Ahh, yes... also known as the Holy Datura. I has quite the legend, even in Hindu history where it is said Krishna used the plant. In the west, many folks referred to the datura as "loco weed" because of how their horses acted after eating the leaves.

My interest is the pure beauty of the plant and the flower whose life is brief but stunningly beautiful, especially at night.

Something very erotic about many flowers and this is one of them. Or my mind is between the sheets.
