here's a photo taken (2/07) in the Franklin Mountains, which surround Phar Lepht, (the lower end of the Rockies). this was mnaz's 2d visit with us and we had a beautiful day to piss away... and neither of them had on any makeup!!

another shot from our location overlooking the Mesilla Valley where the 'mighty' Rio Grande cuts its swath southward...

Indeed, a part of planet Earth... our High Chihuahuan Desert. Altitude in Phar Lepht is around 3800 feet above the sea, and the place where these pics were taken are around a mile above the sea.

This pic shows some of the highest peaks in the mountain range - [we live on the opposite side (east)]. there is a wonderful hiway across the pass to reach this area where the shots were taken, where the high point is 5260 feet above the planet's oceans.

a bit dark, but you may get the idea... a dry and lofty bunch, we are! Note: the jet contrail...

There's nothing like cats to keep you in place for awhile. Ya don't wanna move at all.

Love those vistas and I see ya got a visit from the original desert rat himself, yes indeed , profoundly beautiful vistas from my memory and the plain urban easy life down here.
I like the one of the road going up the mountain, can just imagine what vistas there are there!!!

Mas por favor!!!

The thing you're missing is the Haydn piano trio softly playing in the background.

Good choice!!!! I would add the Aria from the Goldberg Variations by Bach being played by Glenn Gould. :D

Yeah!

How did I miss this one? Nice photo, Cecil. I remember those good times well....

It looks like I'll be 'landing' in Seattle, after all. If y'all pass through the Great Northwest, be sure to look me up.... I'll take you to the Seattle Rain Festival, which runs every year from Jan. 1st to Dec. 31st....

hehehe.

How on earth can you be so mobile, so free as the desert whirlwinds, and yes it is true, the great open spaces soothe and energize the soul, miss those vast empty spaces, my wife has about had it with hurricaines, I propose a mandatory evacuation of Florita. We are sitting duckasses, here.

And there's something special about having a friend at the last outpost, far left, texass, special. why seattle when you can have el pisso and the railroad down to Aye,Chihuahua :!:

Well jimbo.... knowing me, and my adopted semi-nomadic lifestyle, my sojourn here in Seattle won't be a permanent one.... It just feels right to me, at least for now...

Seattle is my home town.... family and friends here. It's a place to plug back in and 'recharge' for a spell.... until the road can no longer be ignored...
