Judih, I love sitting there at like 5 in the morning and thinking and writing, so completely quiet and serene.

And yes, I love my cup, I press my lips to it's soft, smooth surface, dreamily sip from it's creamy content....sigh....you guessed it....I'm doing that right now.

As for the grrrrrizzzzly bears....I do love 'em, bears of all descriptions. Love drawing and painting them, love sculpting them in wood or soapstone, I even make tiny necklaces of them. I would, however, not wish to make ones aquaintance up close and personal!

I too like to sit before the screen just before the sun gets up. My cup is not as pretty in pink as yours but suffices (I have no favorites.) Everything is so neat on your desk.

Grizzly bears are cool...made a grizz pin and gave it to a friends daughter that works for the forest service in montana... They are actually a subspecies of the brown bear...who knew? Hah! In the Sacramento mountains some of the brown bears are golden and get really big. Cec surprised one on the porch one time...or it surprised him. I like bear facts.

I love the bear by the shore. Usually a frame with a shore contains something like people, maybe family, or just the landscape. It's funny to see a bear instead.

wolves and a cougar...I think we would get along very well mousey. I see you have a predilection for western art. The two pieces on the wall are very similar if not what are called 'dream catchers'. http://www.cia-g.com/~gathplac/dreamcatcher_legend.htm

I met an old Mescalero Apache at one of my shows in New Mexico. A small show in Capitan. He was very interested in my peyote stitch (gourd stitch) beads, which is an ancient indian stitch but I make them with small triangular japanese seed beads. He watched me silently, checked out all my jewelry with that stitch and then smiled and said he liked what I was making. He told me that he made dream catchers...I gave him one of my beads and he told me I would recieve an Indian blessing. (This happened at another show too, with a Navajo woman...gave her a pair of earrings she admired, she said I would have an Indian blessing.) He told me that anytime you give something away, something valued, it comes back to you in the form of a blessing.

I've been blessed.

I want to do them justice.

Bring them to life as much as paint and the human hand can. Draw that life from the wood. It's a pleasure.....when it's going good...otherwise, aaarrrrgggghhhhh.

Most of those beads I used are hand carved from dogwood, lovely soft centers perfect for beading.

Mousey, I think you did them justice all right. The expression on the cougars' face is spot on. Can you tell me the sizes of the pieces approximately?

The easel for the wolf piece on the desk...is very cool, teepee-ish (I don't think that is a word, is it? Hah!)

Do you carve (drill) the dogwood beads too?

I am impressed.

The cougar piece is aprox 12" from top to bottom and 5" wide, the leather on which it is painted, probably 2 and a half inches round.

The coyote piece maybe 8" from top to bottom and 4" wide, the leather on which it is painted aproximately 1 and a half inches round.

The wolf on drying rack is about 8" by 8" at the longest points, the deer leather on which it is painted is aprox. 5" by 5". The wolf itself is 3" high x 2" wide.

The beauty of the dogwood is it's soft center, you can easily push right through without using a drill. Great for my purposes.

I like working in miniatures. Getting hard on my widdle old eyes tho. I may one day have to wear the old pop bottle glasses to see what I'm doin'.

Maybe later I'll post some of my tiny carved bears.... I love carving bears....perhaps they are my totem.

Wow, to see the creative spirit one more time. Honestly, it's a great surprise. Like them totems. Earthy please. There is a dream catcher on the side of the adobe shack with the mare in my drawing. it is subdued, in the dark.

did you paint the bear? the pebbles on the shore are too real. i can feel the wind bristling thru the bears' fur. it is a good bear day!

Yes, all you see here done by me. I didn't make the desk or cup or anything - not that talented - but all the rest is me.

And I had a pebbley devilish time with those pebbles. And the fur....don't get me started on the fur. Yes, now that you mention it I believe there was a spot of wind.
