Barley Pond
Re: Barley Pond
Nice... and nice to escape the ugliness of everyday life these days and remind ourselves that there's still sun and sky and earth and water and air, still free for our enjoyment. I'm reconnecting with the Birch Hill Wildlife Management flood-control project, and yesterday hiked an old favorite trail. The wood frogs were chorusing! What a glorious sound. My own have yet to arrive at the vernal pool next door - it's still frozen over. But soon, I hope. The audio clip is from a few years ago. The photo was taken at 42.640577 N, 72.096814 W yesterday, looking south into the swamp.

the marshes are my favorite....

Re: Barley Pond
They just buzz with life, especially when it gets warmer. And that smell - reminds me alternately of lentils & old tires... the sounds... Swamps & marshes make me smile. Except for the mosquitoes. They make me cross.
