I wish. I did sing a loud country joe and the fish chorus for the people working down there, still valid today, gimme an F etc. along with a couple of verses of "coming into los angeles" very fun, never made it to the original. you can still feel the energy there.

Last time I felt that kind of residual energy in a place was at the grave of HP Lovecraft. I'd unsuccessfully hunted for it once before, and was on the verge of giving up this time when I practically stumbled over it. It was an unexpectedly powerful moment - I actually burst into tears. I have no illusions about the literary quality of his work - amateurish in every sense of the word - but it took me by storm as an adolescent, and goddammit it got me writing. So I owe him that. I scribbled a little couplet he'd used in a number of his stores & left it as a token.
