jack kerouak's house

Post by jimboloco » June 3rd, 2005, 6:46 pm

Jack's house is at the corner of 10th Ave N. and about 52nd St N. I have to go down 10th Ave to find it. I have an old Friend, that's right, Jan Reiner, an old retired architect, an Austrian Jew, really socialist Quaker, really tho a deeply spiritual, his home surrounded by thick growth of trees and etc, anyhow this is standing kitty corner to Jacks, the old architect to the left. Too bad too, it would have been fun if old Jack had stuck around.....

side of house, the garage contains Jacks last car, a 1965 white Chevy Impala,

you can see the car thru the small window to the right, locked into the rear of the garage. I was unable to capture it on film. When I get a digital cam I will again try to photograph it with I suspect success.

The cozy back porch screened in green, an interlude of time poised for slow sweet nothingness, empty, only ghosts live here. Kerouak's phone number was listed when I first lived near here; you got a buzzy signaal. Now there is no number listed anymore. Yet the house remains intact, well kept, serene, good for the neighbors I guess. The car is there hidden, a secret treasure, with the mirror adjusted and set by the late bard, I seen it.

That's quite an interesting find there Jim. The car, is it a four door, hard top etc.? We have a few historic homes around here too but your find is quite unique, something probably not listed on the tour.

uh i forget if it is 4 or 3 doorz, buit it is white with some dust, windows closed so the interior is fairly well kept, there uare two views, one from the small back window, the other from the side window, i think it is also inside the gate, like i said the film cam won't get it but i bet a dig cam would pick it up. you know, shadowed lighting.

Hey Jim, I fish off the banks of Auburn Wharf along The North River. The estate (Auburn Wharf) once belonged to John Lennon and Yoko Ono. I once caught a croaker right there that I thought I heard say "I am the walrus."
