jimbo.... great response. The last pic was up on Posey's Trail, southeastern Utah canyon realm. The Comb Ridge is a long, sawtooth-shaped sandstone ridge, or "reef", as the pioneers called it. This "reef", this giant rock wall, along with many others in the region, caused pioneers no small amount of hardship and difficulty of passage.
Yeah, the thing about the canyon country is its pervasive vertical red rock upheaval; upended strata from what was once a sea floor. There is a sense of seeing deep inside the planet, and being able to touch the epochs....
