my child was born to a houston whore
in desperate times
just before i shipped out of galveston
down to my last dime
my child was born to a red headed tomboy babe
she lived in a cider mill and had a brass bed
just before i dropped out for new orleans
and the drunk tank
my child was born to a sweet seventeen
a kings cross blonde she cried when i left
just before i hit rock bottom over the ho chi minh trail
and she moved back with her parents
oh how we are blessed
even by those things we missed
the longings that we feel
when visions of frankincense and myrrh appear
in desperate times

In the last year she has been in Sierra Leone, Dubai, London, Austin, Hawaii and at last sighting she was in Berkeley signing up for a doctoral program. And that picture was taken in October, she's probably changed her nail color four or five times since then.

It was a passing mood.

I got to mentor a young woman today at work
She is getting ready to graduate. It is good to be able to give something to a young person, really good.
It's all good, more or less!
Arcadia, how is the land for the people thing
going down in Rosario.
I heard a bit about it on Democracy Now.
