Cali-for-ni-ay pics (first portion)

Post by mnaz » December 21st, 2005, 1:10 am

Here are pics from my recently-concluded California voyage.... These are from the desert portion of the trip. I'll post the coastline pics later when I finish the film roll....

1. Death Valley from Aguereberry Point, elev. 6433':

5. Harrisburg site:

6. Ballarat ghost town:
Notes: Where Shorty Harris lived out his last days. The truck is rumored to be Charlie Manson's. The ruins in the background were filmed for the opening scenes of the movie 'Easy Rider'.

It was a fine sojourn....

Cool, Arcadia...

Yeah.... I think that one's my favorite, also. I've tried to photograph those dunes before, but the pics never quite turned out. Finally....

Pictures 1,2, & 7 are general sightseeing.
Pictures 3-6 relate to stories I've posted in the last 2 months or so.

I love them all!

Every time you post photos, you take me there with you! And so I travel vicariously with you and see through your eyes.

They're all excellent!

(new banners coming soon... lol... I can't help myself! ;) )

fantastic shots.
Isn't it incredible how a few kilometers here, a few miles there and we can find such planetary variations.

No wonder we're all scattered. There's so much topography to choose from.

Thanks, O Wired One, doreen, and judih.

I'm happy that you enjoyed these "fleeting" windows into my world.... I've been in a state of quiet exultation over them.... I love the way this roll of film turned out....

yeh jimbo...

no "Arizona Highways" shots for me.... well, except for that Saguaro sunset one, maybe....

I go for the space, also.... wide open sculpture.... Sometimes I'm not sure what to make of the Arizona deserts.... all those Saguaros might be spying on me....

Mojave Desert's about 55-70 degrees F, midday, this time of year.... not bad at all....
