COMIC ART GENIUSES

I wish here to lionize certain almost unknown ( oh, more's the pity!) comic strip artists:
Windsor McKay:

George Herriman:

Elzie Crisler Segar:

Roy Crane:

Alex Raymond:

and Milton Caniff:

These artists are giants in the world of comic strip art. They are among the least acknowledged of US artists; yet, were they musicians, they would be the Ellingtons and Armstrongs of their medium.
You may have heard of their characters, like Little Nemo, Krazy Kat, Flash Gordon/ Rip Kirby, Popeye, Captain Easy/ Wash Tubbs and Steve Canyon/Terry and the Pirates.
It's time you got up to date and acknowleged these great American artists.
