apathetic peacock

worlds collide
households mourn
but peacock feels no pain
he strokes the leaf-strewn paths
smoothing tracks with feathered touch
impervious to human eye

You have a peacock in your 'hood?
How beautiful! How good! His plumes
of feathers resonate the great rainbow
colors of spring! I can hear him singing
peacock melodies! The trees sway with
his enchanting voice! Rejoice in the
multi-colored hues! They are clues
to the awakening of new life.
Peacock's strut, relaxed and settled –
they have no strife. We should
learn from them!

peacock: i am what i am
me: you are what you are
us: peacock power

note: peacock shriek is not a charming melody, but loud and demanding
(it is what it is)

Beautiful yes, but they can get pretty gregarious and loud. I remember seeing them in Cuba hanging out in front of a restaurant and making quite a scene...

Spells may be broken,
But at the moment,
Viewing a peacock has
Gotten my mind
All turquoise & venetian blue...
A salute to Spring & you!

I once invited a friend who had left the zen sangha back....I wanted to
remind him about the shreiking peacocks in his neighborhood
where we had a yard sale of such junk that only yard sale addicts would buy it.

Actually our senior zen student recommended that I not mention the peacocks.
They sound gross.

Peacocks strutting
waiting for handouts
SHREIK!
