"David Cameron accuses Argentina to be colonialist"...oh yeah, ... welcome to the upsidedown world one more time!

I found yesterday in pdf versions two books from I only read fragments some years ago: Walter Mignolo "La idea de América Latina" and Franz Fanon "Los condenados de la tierra" with a somehow readable preface of Jean Paul Sartre. I´ll post the links later!

Just picking one at random now, too tired to read much more tonight
My feelings about the British Empire so ambivalent. I admire their culture but loathe them for all bleeding colonies they created and abandoned.

What else is the Falklands then a colony? It is it part of the British commenwealth of nations like South Africa was or is, or Canada?
Or is it a state like Hawaii? :? Is it something like Puerto Rico? Geez the more I think about it the more I realize my ignorance of the world

yeah, the "Falklands" are a colonia británica for the british. And it seems the brit government is sending to Malvinas a big war-ship with a prince included this time for routine operations ..., fuck them, really...! 30 years since the war this year, it´s quite probably the waters will be more agitated than usually.

but what happen with territories supuestamente 100% under argentine state soberanía nowadays....? "the earth's resources are owned by the Nation." it sounds good but it´s not very credible said by our president ,though, knowing her (his husband´s, de La Rua´s and the big maker Carlos Menem´s) support to the accionar of corporate (among other rubros...) mineras in the cordillera zone ...

Last week people of La Rioja and the rest of the country stopped -at least for now- Osisko emprendimiento in Famatina ...

but the Barrick Gold continue its thrilling work in Veladero and Pascua Lama with the support of the president and with no-real-long-term benefits to the state, the land, the locals, the nation or whatever.... so? , the ex-diputado that brought this case to the cámaras is amenazado and the Barrick gold internet page... well..., welcome to the parallel? worlds...!

You're cracking me up here ! I know what you mean about the summer lazies - I get those myself.
Winter up here now and I'm just trying to keep reasonably warm. Got a bad case of cabin fever too.
Everything up here locked up in ice - couldn't go kayaking unless I went to some god-forsaken place like Pennsylvania or even Virginia to find open water. I clicked on your link but couldn't read it due to the language ignorance on my part.
ya know, I keep telling myself I'm gonna learn Spanish one of these days but it ain't happened yet.

Talk about lazy!

well, I hope you had sweet dreams, mingo! :)
No river today, storm-like weather now (I can´t complaint, I love these days when they are not a seven day a week reality!)

today I recived an e-mail that made me think in one of Cecil´s streams: it´s about malas and rosary´s etimology among other things, I found it interesting!. See if you like (it´s in English!... ):

Thx for the article, Veronica - I like the feel of beads in my hand or touching an object that has been coated with them. It just feels good. I had read about the rosary beads before - I got bead history coming out my ears from dealing with these things over the years. They go back a long, long ways. I had not thought about the Buddhist beads though.
Thx, again. 8)

ps - I did sleep good.

good, mingo! :)

some years ago I wrote a poem after seeing a BBC documentary about the striking and sinking of the Crucero General Belgrano sending the ones who did that and also the ones who had all sooo clear twenty years after that to drink sea-water with algas (no idea where is the poem but I remember the title and that detail... ). Today I don´t find nothing remotely poetic in relation with the subject... just hey, it´s enough!, got it?

but it seems it´s not enough, though. I guess that happens with all the wars at some point ... this are our president today´s declarations:

http://www.pagina12.com.ar/diario/ultim ... 02-07.html

last november a friend told me that her recently known half-brother who is from Santiago del Estero and was a conscript during the Malvinas war was convocado to go to Buenos Aires during January without too much details ... she was afraid, I said something like "hey, he´s nearly fifty years old now, they can´t send him to Malvinas now again" trying to cheer her up but she keep saying "I don´t know, it´s odd". I hope this "movida" don´t cause them more pain than the one they already had... But who knows?

well and this one is the colorful note: "do you want a cup...?" maybe a shot of neocolonial british humor or a severe case of some kind of defense mechanism ...

more today-notes about Malvinas:

http://www.pagina12.com.ar/diario/ultim ... 02-08.html

http://www.pagina12.com.ar/diario/elpai ... 02-08.html

http://www.pagina12.com.ar/diario/elpai ... 02-08.html

http://www.pagina12.com.ar/diario/elpai ... 02-08.html

some more rational hipótesis about why maybe the gov were convocando ex-combatientes lately:

- homenajes next April the 2nd (the half-brother of my friend shot with precision from air a brit plane, by the way)
- some kind of educative-testimonial programme
- verify how are the ex-combatientes conditions nowadays maybe related with the new asistencial centre according the president anuncios yesterday
-communicate specially to them the "Rattenbach informe" ?

it´s a fact that to visualize a foreign enemy congregates (some of the people present during yesterday´s speech still show that ...)
