it seems VICE NEWS :?: have "good entrada" with the local powers ... their reports are kind of sad (I don´t know if -istic at all, but for sure in a somehow sort of entertaiment-hunter key...), a kind of National Geographic of the human misery that want to be at the same time a bit cool, maybe ... : They also filmed in my city ...

Last saturday there was a little familiar revuelo around our president´s speech at the ONU. It was funny at first to only listen this time (because I hadn´t listened to the speech or the news). "It´s more or less what we all think but with an unopportune auditorio, why bother to fustigate the USA if we have to deal with them in one way or another?", "Now we are the world moral reservoir or what?", "Sure that you would agree with her speech, you would also have talked too much" :?:
Well, well, well ... "now I´m not talking" I said...
I listened to her speech after the familiar summit and she sounded ok and with no apparent surprises for we, the locals: as long as we know is what she & her government thinks about the issues she talked about, why not to talk about it there?. It´s true that inside the country there is not too much peace at the moment but that wasn´t the topic, or was it?

then I found this article ... (it´s not exactly the one it would cheer you up but it deserved a read!)...

Beyond Griesa maybe we always liked to be a bit "desacatados", who knows... how to modify a long story of adjudged & assumed roles ...? . Are we putting a plus in being victims of an unjust situation (for different reasons) or it is just how the things are?... (yeah, I know, we can talk long about the sentence "how the things are...").

What I know is that in the last decades we were sistematically shaked by two kind of cycles (the ten to fifteen years leading to a big devaluation & political crisis and the "end of the year" stinging ...). We are circun-navegating both of them now, let´s hope we learned something that can help us this time ...

The tone of our president speeches increased (yeah, maybe too much  ) today again. A lot of people here is making fun of it ... Believing/according with her or not I have to do a big effort to find it funny as a whole, really.... maybe it´s all a matter of time ... :?

yeah, it seems we´ll have soon a Chinese military base in our territory ...... damn

http://www.counterpunch.org/2014/10/07/ ... ft-behind/

Really thrilling to see images about people dying because Ebola (not intention to see them, but they were there on tv....yeah, I know people are dying around the world because famine and different contagious diseases , why worry specially for this one you may ask?). I have an ancestral aprehensión about epidemias/pandemias, the social craziness they can carry beyond the deaths dramas -we keep listening from time to time in my family about polio stories and we have in the city still fresh the madness around the Gripe A- ... I really have no idea how thirty years ago I wanted to be a doctor...

I hope the spreading stop & ill people can be assisted with what they need.

my mother was struck by polio when she was eleven - had operations all through her youth - walked with the aid of braces & two canes all the rest of her life - and she was one of the lucky ones - when she was in her seventies i took her to the doctor's after her surgeries for breast cancer - a young doctor was there - no more than 25 yrs old - he took a look at my mother and said: "Polio, an obsolete disease" - I became unbelievably angry so quickly I still can't account for my actions following his stupid statement - I grabbed him by his scrubs, spun him around, pushed him up against the wall and screamed in his face - "It didn't leave any "obsolete" victims behind, Doc, victims whose crippling injuries you and your running mates still can't help much less fix" - that was more than a decade and a half ago and it still boils my blood when it comes to mind -

- you would have made a good doctor, Veronica, it would have torn your heart up every day but you would have been good doctor -
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Gracias for sharing your family story again, mingo!. I understand your reaction to the doctor... My uncle is now 83 years old: he got polio at three & had the chance for only one operation that was not enough for let him walk but most of people that had polio in other epidemia twenty years later passed for a serie of operations that let them walk with muletas, as your mother. His wife (who is twenty years younger) is one of them. Her father was a doctor in Goya (Corrientes) and he had sent his wife and two daughters to the countryside in order to lessen the contagio risks, but it seems it didn´t work at all ... Sad stories, but both of them amazingly very resilient persons.

you would have made a good doctor, Veronica, it would have torn your heart up every day but you would have been good doctor -

No idea, mingo... those were my mesianic years ... & my heart is easily torn up every day the same ... I´m too emotional & against the big pharma to had survived and/or being of some help in today´s system.... I´m still interested somehow in health issues but in a wider/different sense now.

big pharma has been a contagion all of itself up here in Gringolandia - it's the mood changing drugs that are the most prevalent - gives me the creeps the way folks just accept it and down pill after pill - can't do anything without their pill for this & pill for that but what the hell do I know?

disclaimer II: they thought about the posible time gaps and you can listen to the videos for 48 hs. Very well organized!!!!! :) (maybe that´s the way online events use to go, but it was the first time I listened to an online speech inside a previous organized online esquema) It was somehow surprisingly familiar & natural to listen to the quiet Sakyong after been reading for more than a decade Chogyam Trungpa´s & Pema Chodron´s books...
