Thanks, Steve... My daughter's condition is short-term temporary..She'll be as good as new in a few days......

Lrod's condition, though, will effect his ability to speak and sing for the rest of his life which will be long and fruitful! ..... He's a poet, a writer, a songwriter, and has a voice that can't be diminished by any means!

I can hear him in my sleep.

Visited LRod today at Parkland Hospital. He did have a laryngectomy today, and he feels like they got all the cancer. He was tired and experiencing some pain waves, and of course can only communicate with a pad and pen. The nurse told me that he has some lung infection, so they will keep him on a ventilator for a while to keep positive pressure on his lungs. She implied that they will install a voice box thingy in his throat at some point.

He's listed in "Fair Condition" at present, and the nurse said he was only a few days away from being moved from ICU. General prognosis is very optimistic.

Voice box thingy is a learned skill but definitely makes people listen!

Great to hear the good news that eLRod is going to survive all this... we all know he has so much more to say, and I for one, look forward to his first post when he has the opportunity.

Just spoke with René Lawrence on the phone, aka Stupid Bob, Clay's friend for 40+ years.... He was the Band Leader for our Cabaradio band. Talking to him about meeting him in Austin in a month so we can drive to Dallas together to visit Clay.

Here's René playing guitar at our Cabaradio show at the Arlington Independent Media TV station.... 2005? 2004? I can't remember. Hey, I'm lucky to remember to wake up in the morning.

Thank you, Stupid Bob! Looking forward to seeing Clay with you. Also, while we're in Dallas, I'd like to visit Mr. Troll, another good friend of Clay's who has already been to visit him and reported here on the thread about his visit. We could all visit Clay together maybe!

Glad you found Rene. Last I heard, LRod had lost contact with him.

I was acquainted with Rene back in the 70s when he and a fellow named Wes performed as Consort II.

Kelly Tomlinson (Bass player with The Cliff Blues Band, with whom LRod has been playing) is visiting him this evening. I should hear something from him when he gets home later. I'll pass on any news.

Yes, Clay told me, too, he had lost contact, and I hadn't heard from Rene since our last Cabaradio in 2007 or something).

You know stupid Bob I asked Clay about something you said to him a long time ago on studio eight. you said something about "before it's too late" It is not too late. Buddhabitch yoused to have the tagline "freedom just another word for nothing left to loose" if that is true than CLay still got plenty left to loose. Thanks for being his friend. I just can't deal with losing him now, I got all the "pips" I need. Look out for my cousin. It is a comfort to me to know he has so many Friends.

From Kelly on his visit last night...

He was actually in very good spirits. Victor and I had a pretty good time with him.
He kept trying to talk, but no sound was coming out so we repeatedly made him write it out
I told the nurse to shave him again as we left. She rolled her eyes and smirked, but Lrod was busting a gut!
