Went with the President down to Crawdad, Texas
he took me out under his favorite pecan tree
made me kneel in prayer just like Nixon did to Kissinger
but I wouldn't let him kiss me on the first date

He began to expatiate on matters great and small
there were tough decisions, it was a hard job, after all.
then he pulled out his straight and a couple of rocks
said, "Don't mention this to Blitzer or Fox"

I said, "I thought those was the days that was."
He said, "What good is being President if you can't catch a buzz?
Just once in a while, in between crises, or if the weather is cold or
the moon is in Pisces or if the Black Night takes fifty of my pawns."

Then he got that look on his face, you know the one I mean
can't tell if it's Moronic or Messianic or Maniacal
his eyes glazed over as he recited the tale of his nativity.
We all know Barbara was a virgin. Probably still is. Born with

snow white hair they say according to scripture.
and the wise men brought gifts of oil and propaganda
led by a star in the distant constellation Neo-Con SS2.
As he looked at me, his eyes turned from grey to blue.

He told me of his vision then, the Gospel of Money
how he was sent to enforce freedom throughout the world
With a ten-thousand mile stare he told me
that he was the chosen one, he had a mandate and capital

I said, "Can I have a puff of that?"

What's good enough for the Prez . . .

You could probably work well without the rhyming.

I wasn't actually reading the song lyrics. i just now did they're kind of funny. I was just thinking that rambling stirical pieces like that work well as free-verse. Oh well.

We're cool. I sure don't see the rambling that you do. Lemme think about 3 lines=rambling and I'll get back to you in a decade or two with a formula for it. 8)

Look out for Perezoso though, he's claimed a good point on ya about your haiku insinuation.

anybody who can ramble for three liones would be some kind genius.
I was referring to the orginal post by lightning rod.
For you, imitating song lyrics and all rhyming works.
BLAH, I'm feeling very petty and trivial now. I'm going to stop posting for awhile.

Wow. Sure hope I wasn't a sore point. Just saying hello. You are a little petty in your own way with the "For you ..." line I think but you realize it so I'm being redundant. Screw me for that next, ok? :D

Please look at the emoticons I've left in my post's carefully. They are there for a reason. You are one of them. Take heart. Fear not. Repost!

I suppose any feeling is good, any feeling at all in place of being numb with grief.

I miss perezoso too, although he used to piss me off with all those user names he used to use.

LR never did use emoticons. Ne never needed them. I wish I was half the writer he ...

No, he didn't use them. I never claimed to be a writer, much less a poet. So, I do use them when a personal reaction happens to me in the course of this type of communication.

I use them too, maybe it is a lack of confidence that I can make my meaning clear. Clay wrote so clearly he had confidence in his words.

good times bad times give me some of them

I never was one for making threats, some of the exchanges with perezoso were not so nice. Sounded like implied death threats to me. I am hoping to forget all that one day.

I am grateful Clay had such good friends and I wish I could have been there for him too. Still hard for me to change tense when I think and write about him.
