brilliant

music and the prose too

on a personal note Texas always been temporary to me
my third life here since 1968
you ever hear of a book called My First Two Thousand Years by some French guy?

I kind of like that Virginia song the way it is, so historically acurate. Probably the best state song I have heard is Rocky Top.

Oh well as long as i am on another nontangental ramble here Maryland got the most awefull state song but probably the best state motto

I forgot the Latin but in English it is something like this
"womanly words, manly actions"
"Natural selection, as it has operated in human history, favors not only the clever but the murderous." Barbara Ehrenreich

Could I make a request, please?

Could you maybe also post the text here, instead of just the link? One day you may change the location of your blog site and the link won't work. It would be best for readers at Studio8 to have access to your writings should that happen.

Of course, this is not a requirement but it would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

I read you are moving. Please keep in touch and let me know where. I may need to send you an invoice or an attorney's letter. Hahahaha... .Just kidding about the reasons. :P

Doreen, keep those lawyers handy

In my Will I'm leaving you all my sad manuscripts
all of my dusty poems like so many lottery tickets
scratched and saved for what compulsive wish?

I know you intend to fight it in court
and how can I blame you?
It would be like inheriting a weak chin or diabetes
a paltry bequest at best,
my manuscripts and ashes,
hardly worth the storage space.

You'll be glad to know
that they are pressing my ashes
into a shiny little pill, you can hide me
at the bottom of an Advil bottle.
The damned poems will be your problem.

Your lawyer will advise you against reading them
as he should, especially in your bereaved state
but someone will have to read them in order to appraise the value of the estate. I hope the taxes won't be too much. Your lawyer will also explain to you that in the event that you bring suit to refuse this bequest, you would be suing yourself and no matter if you won or lost you would be stuck with the poems, either as trustee or beneficiary. That's my little after-death joke to you because I knew it would appeal to your sense of circularity.

I suppose you could make them into a book.
But please not a glossy coffee table book
make it a book that you would keep
hidden between the mattress of your heart
and the box-springs of your imagination

Clay...

Your poem made me cry. I know you intended it to be lighthearted and witty, which it was, but still... it brought tears to my eyes. Not even kidding.

I'll have my people contact your people and they can set up a date and time to work out the details.

Please keep me posted as to your whereabouts prior to your demise. You'll probably last longer than me. Your poetry will at least. Mine will be stuck on an old mac and the inheritors of my estate will simply recycle it, as they will my bones and heart. The liver is worthless.

With that, perhaps I should will the machine to you. Every word I've penned has been useless. You probably already know my passwords. Then you can combine my poems with your poems and sign your name to them and nobody will know the difference. As usual.

hahahaha

:P

Seriously though... hope you're doing well and e-me your new address when you move OK?

The Maryland motto, Fatti Maschii Parole Femine, has not specifically been adopted as a state motto. Rather, it has been accepted as a state motto because it was adopted as an element of the Great Seal of Maryland.

I didn't mean to make you cwy doeween.
I was sort of going for gallows humor
on the other hand, you can be very beautiful when you cry. But more beautiful when you smile.

Thanks for the link, Jack
This article is beautifully written and it talks about things we all have been thinking about. I can totally identify with Mac, the hero of the story. I've long been fascinated by the subjects the article deals with, cyber-identity and cyber-legacies and transhumanism. And how long will these gazillion integers remain in the exact same order as we think we have them in now?
