Just reflecting

when I was a teenager I used to listen to a radio show from WRR in Dallas
midnight they would play the blues
often it would be authentic native Texas blues like Mance Lipscomb and Lightnin' Hopkins.
Later in my career, I got to meet both of those oldtimers. I played with Mance (it was a bitch because he played everything in Bb which is an awkward key for the flute)
I just met Lightnin' Hopkins once at a club where I played in Dallas called Mother Blues. He was into his seventies by this time and getting a bit feeble. One of the local musicians that was in his pick-up band told me, "Lightnin' just makes the changes when he feels like it."
That's the blues, baby
