just cut the throat of a poem
it was going nowhere in a timely fashion
i squeezed it around like the lemon it was
i used the old juxtaposition scam
i reconfigured, i reconnoitered
and loitered, around and around
in that treasure chest of memories
that turns up every now and then
like a gilligan's island episode
or that scene from the blob
and i toss it around, sometimes
it twirls like a pizza and it gets wider and more expansive until i can't control it and it goes spinning into space to intersect with dr smith and the robot or the creatures of the id from forbidden planet when they smash through the force field with the titanium windows buckling and walter pidgeon is helpless he can't do anything about it because the subterranean generators of the ancient ones who used to live there amplify walter pidgeon's secret inner fears and desires and transmute them into hellbent malevolent juggernauts in pursuit of their creator's destruction, but
where the fuck can i go with this
how the hell can i actually use it
i am a man of many little talents
i'm really good at things that don't make money
if the things that i can do were profitable
then maybe i could make a little money
but they are not profitable, hence i do not make any money
ipso facto - unprofitable talents = no money
i'm a smart guy, i know a lot of stuff
but it isn't the right stuff
the stuff that makes money stuff
the wasabi stuff, the puff n' stuff stuff
the captain puff n' stuff meets admiral huff n' puff stuff
this sort of thing can really get out of hand
usually, i can put a lid on it and whistle a happy tune
sure, i can act like i don't give a damn
damn you, sir - i say damn you
but that doesn't fool the big shots
they see me coming like a filipino c-note
and the women are even worse
i don't care - i mean i do care
but i really don't
