carolyn jones
you're going to miss me when i'm gone
you'll think of me and
hear my voice in your head
you know me, you won't forget
my face and my gestures
how i do the al pacino
my crazy dancing
remember
you know me so well
under the half moon
i laugh the laughter of madness
i do the jerk - the mash potato
jump back jack
see you later alligator
i've got the moves of dr. york
remember
you know me, you won't forget
my face
what about my face
how can you live without my face
you're going to miss me when i'm gone
do you miss me now that i'm gone
do you love me
just tell me that you love me
even if you don't love me
i don't need the truth
fuck the truth and tell me a lie
do you still think of me
you're going to miss me when i'm gone

in the film bachelor party , she plays a short part known to fans as the existentialist, in which she wants to be told that she is loved - whether a lie or not. that kind of stayed with me - the need that lies behind love, the insecurity, the hunger - a bad case of the carolyn jones. also, a sequence from woody allen's stardust memory comes to mind. poetry is so cool. it gives one a chance to synthesize elements that have affected the artist - a way of understanding self and experience.
here is paddy chayefsky's dialogue from the movie:
[Charlie is trying to kiss a girl he just met]
The Existentialist: Just say you love me.
Charlie Samson: [confused] What?
The Existentialist: Just say you love me. You don't have to mean it.
[Charlie tries to kiss her, but she fights him off]
Charlie Samson: What's the matter?
The Existentialist: Say you love me.
Charlie Samson: Oh, come on.
The Existentialist: Say you love me.
Charlie Samson: Come on.
The Existentialist: No!
Charlie Samson: I love you, I love you!
[they madly embrace and kiss passionately]

gotta jump back, jack,
turn around in the sound saddle,
rattle the eardrums off her,
cough or sing or ring a-ding
or some such thing to get
the attention of the deaf....
how could anyone forget
that left foot right foot lead, man,
damn it! it's kinetic! memory's in
the doin', the motion, the madness,
the cagney impression, not to mention
the athletic perspective, the poetic invective,
and the goddamn chant of
neat, petite, sweet ...
life is like a museum on a side street,
gotta get away, gotta go out and play,
do the tango, the ooo pappa fandango,
trip the fantastico light, bro,
go go go, ya got it goin' on!
do the jitterbug, the wa-wa-watusi, even da hip-hop
fox trot, do it in the mornin', do it 'til ya drop,
it's a wild world out there, gomez,
pay homage to the dead, rise up instead,
hold onto yer heart, make some banana bread,
wrap yer bandana on yer head, and jam man!
no need to make a wish fer dear morticia,
she's doin' the vamp with a cloud somewhere...
do the funky monkey if ya dare!
it ain't fair but it's a blast ... sky's bright
not overcast ... drive dat convertable buggy and park it.
check ya out in the supermarket!

hehe
sorry... you inspired me

Fun poem, know what i mean. I dig it, dean!
