we lay it out
like we lay bricks and roofbeams
it is our nature, it is our way
your specifications
serve your own interests and kind
and you hide behind them
and you tell us what's what
you flaunt your degrees
your credit cards
you talk - we listen
your wallet speaks volumes
we sharpen our pencils
we try to put into words
to express, to relate
we stutter
we rant
it is not poetic
it is not art
how can we use words
without splinters, without grit
those are our credentials
we have grown your food
we have built your house
we carry your world on our backs
but our voice offends -
words not fit to print
perhaps, sir
you are not fit to listen
like we lay bricks and roofbeams
it is our nature, it is our way
your specifications
serve your own interests and kind
and you hide behind them
and you tell us what's what
you flaunt your degrees
