jane's a rogue she is
legendary
she can do the double cut-out
and call you in the morning
like you should've known better
what can one do with a woman like that
she's unpredictable
she confounds me
she talks like she's playing chess -
for money, even
her smile has an asterisk
a subtext so self-serving
you don't have to ask for directions
all roads lead to rome
took her out to dinner
been saving up for weeks
i'm a very serious man
she goes to the ladies room
i look nervously at my watch
go jane pulls a bye bye
off to the colosseum -
the thracian again
what can one do with a woman like that
god have mercy on my soul
jane's back

I think I used to date jane
but everyone knew her as nancy

guy came over to bring her an eight-ball
she took it to the bedroom to 'look' at it

guy's waiting for his jing
when he finally looks in the bedroom
the window's open and nancy
had gone down a tree

I've had my share of similar dinner dates, dino....and there are a
million janes in the naked city.....but we keep tryin'...push ourselves
out the door to the meeting place with a little hope in our heart....
I have always wanted to compile a book of dates gone bad, and a book about the rides I got back in the 70's when hitchhiking was
still relatively safe....had thousands of each.......nice work.....

nice vicarious experience sans vice dino...in my fantasy she's just run her capricious self cross town for spare ribs and hot mustard to bring back to our Chinese dragon bed.

Heh.
I know a Jane like that myself.
That line, "a subtext so self-serving", really describes her to the core.
In fact, I see this in alot of people who in my opinion have had too much family welfare thrust on them with no humility. I don't know if this is the case with your Jane but with the one I know it is. I mean, it's my opinion, but I derived it through close observation. There is a loneliness when too much has been given....seems like there is an inner drive of buying power, which leaves any real exchanges, based in feeling, out.
I mean, the Jane I know is awesomely talented, beautiful, but fatally flawed due to too much "buying" power. The heart part always gets gypped. She has really flip flopped and hurt alot of people including myself.....poor thing.....
Nice read as usual C.
