you think you know what's up
but you don't have a glimmer
did you believe you could vote them out,
or that they would simply go away?
you are harboring preposterous delusions,
and ignoring ten lifetimes of experience.
unplug the tv, it has emulsified
your power of reason, and
replaced it with credulity and blather.
there's nothing to be ashamed of,
it was never your fault,
no expense has been spared
in the creation of your ignorance
if anything, you should be commended
for your steadfast loyalty
to those who have sold you out,
it speaks highly of your christian values
and your protestant work ethic

But they keep saying they'll finally bring change.. "America needs change", and we keep nodding.. Is it like Lucy and Charlie Brown and the football? Maybe they mean going to Jiffy Lube or something. Jeez Dino, you're even more cynical than me! Or a realist? Perhaps big time politics is primarily a multinational organized crime thing when all is said and done..

i guess i am cynical, but i believe in everything i said in the poem. you get tired arguing - trying to demonstrate this and convince people through the course of 40 years. there comes a time when a sucker gets what he deserves. it grieves me to say it, but it's the truth.

powerful, dino

still, i want to believe it's not totally trashed

my sister told me a few years ago, "just pretend you live in a different country when you wake up in the morning..... because you do."

Constantine, indeed we experience the karma of our small mindedness. As long as we buy into the corporate snake oil sales men we'll keep getting screwed. I once heard a definition of insanity as doing the same thing and expecting different results. You hit the nail on the head my friend.
