don't like being told what to do
something inside me rebels
i get tense and resentful
regardless of all that recovery
shit about humility and acceptance
fuck your acceptance, i'll decide
what i will or won't accept
you don't know everything
even if you are sober
i'm sober too
and i still don't like it
relinquish control to a higher power
i don't trust no higher power
higher power has a bad track record
higher power likes to tell me what to do
i don't like being told what to do

Here's what my higher power told me once long ago. I think it's true for you, too.

"That little voice you hear inside your head is your own."

I think it, my higher power, was trying to say, "Listen to it."
