the pond

Post by constantine » August 18th, 2009, 7:11 pm

on and on
the undulating ripples merge
with a serenity
that deceives the casual eye
like a magician's patter,
with one hand
the gesture, the flourish,
while the other commits its acts
unseen and undetected
witness
the warfare protozoic
the hunger of the minnows,
crabs locked in the struggle for dominance
parry and thrust, claws snapping
their rhythmic staccato, a flamenco
for the matron of the shallow depths

on and on
now and forever on
the undulating ripples merge

It is true, time is a pond, with ripples spreading far and wide in many dimensions.
Big pond, little pond?
Big fish, little fish?
Prey and predator?
Pray or pre-dater?
Ponder...
Ponder...
Ponder...
Forever and ever
Endeavor.

Peace,
Barry

You're welcome. It is I who should thank you. While I don't always like the things of your's I read, I'm adult enough to admit I have learned from you and them much that I needed to learn, whether I wanted to or not.
And now, in my typically odd and oblique fashion, I will attempt to thank you.

First, the lyrics...
Lyrics to Stretch Out And Wait :
Lyrics by Stephen Morrissey
Music by Johnny Marr
All the lies that you make up
What's at the back of your mind ?
Oh, your face I can see
And it's desperately kind
But what's at the back of your mind ?

Two icy-cold hands conducting the way
It's the Eskimo blood in my veins
Amid concrete and clay
And general decay
Nature must still find a way
So ignore all the codes of the day
Let your juvenile influences sway
This way and that way
This way, that way
God, how sex implores you
To let yourself lose yourself

Stretch out and wait
Stretch out and wait
Let your puny body, lie down, lie down
As we lie, you say
As we lie, you say
Stretch out and ...
Stretch out and wait
Stretch out and wait
Let your puny body lie down, lie down

As we lie, you say :
Will the world end in the night time ?
(I really don't know)
Or will the world end in the day time ?
(I really don't know)
And is there any point ever having children ?
Oh, I don't know
All I do know is we're Here and it's Now

So ... stretch out and wait
Stretch out and wait
There is no debate, no debate, no debate
How can you conciously contemplate
When there's no debate, no debate ?
Stretch out and wait
Stretch out and wait
Stretch out and wait
Wait
Wait
Wait
Wait
Oh ...
Then, the song...

I love The Smiths. They're so...smithy.

Peace,
Barry
