i'd like to run my own burlesque house
of course, i would adapt it to correspond
with my aesthetic and artistic sensibilities.
a burlesque variety revue - with a continental flavor
i'd wear a monocle and smoke cigarettes
while entertaining my guests
and why not !?
i'd wear the gig like a silk suit
and not one of those cheap silk suits either
but the good shit from iran
or whoever is doing the quality stuff these days
i got a pal in the garment district that owes me a favor
so why not do it i tell myself
and you know something - i'm right!
now i'm getting somewhere
i'm calling my agent to get me an agent
i know singers - dancers too!
i haven't spent my life twiddling my thumbs
i've got connections among the lumpenproletariat
and they'll work for next to nothing - i've learned that!
where's my rolodex?
