yeah, that Johnny Crawford was not only wimpy, but a goody-two-shoes.....and he sang goofy songs when he wasn't "acting".......

hey remember Dennis Hopper was in the first episode ?......

and I guess Sam Peckinpah's career must have been on the decline if he had turned to TV......although TV was hot then.......

thanx for the memories, dino

i saw the hopper episode just the other day - luke slapped some sense into him.
i think peckinpah started in tv and then got into films - perhaps both at the same time. the episode upon which the poem is derived is episode one of the second season - i've posted a link to it under the poem. i'm just that kind of guy! the poem tries to blur the distinction between the rifleman and the viewer - much as tv seems to do in many ways. we grew up watching this crazy shit and it has influenced us - individually and collectively.

My mind went to Green uniform, black buttons and bread cakes.
Thinking of Riffleman Dodd...lol

So because of your poem
I dug out my copy of Rifleman Dodd by Forrester
and read it yesterday. It is just a small, easy to read book and I finished the last chapter this A.M. on waking.

Oh man! what a treat. You'd like it.
Thanks for getting me there.
