the bohemian coffeehouse review poem

Post by constantine » November 4th, 2012, 2:13 pm

ok - here's the deal
just like i said in an earlier poem
that i wrote last week:
"here's the deal
i've got lots of time on my hands
so i figured i'd put it to use"
same deal with this poem
i was walking down charles by north
but, i was beyond street level
perambulating in that vast necropolis
encapsulated by my aching cranium
i saw the place from across the street
the bohemian coffeehouse
that sort of pissed me off, to me
if you say you're bohemian, you've
already compromised your bohemianality
i don't expect you to understand these subtleties
but i assure you that it's true nonetheless
i felt challenged by their claim of bohemianism
i wanted them to fucking prove to someone like me
someone who's been around - who has experience
in such matters and can see through shit like that
so you know what i did?
i went into that fucking place
that's what i did !
and i ordered a coffee from this guy
i asked him: what's good?
and this squirrelly little bastard
had the cheeky nerve to fucking tell me
"our coffee is great"
just like that !
like he was setting me straight or something
he was like one of those guys
who come half-way down from new york
and half-way up from miami to meet
in the middle of charles and north
and sneer and fucking one-up me
on my coffee know-how or something
if you were there, and saw
that smarmy little bastard for yourself
you'd come away with the same fucking opinion
actually though,
the coffee was pretty good
but, if you make the claim to greatness
then you've already undercut yourself
so, as far as i can see
they made the same mistake twice
two times in a fucking row
that doesn't bode well for their future

Would it be the kind of place to hold a poetry jam or slam?

or is it the name of new age journal of poetry called the bohemian coffeehouse review.

just stuff I was wondering I was thinking like it was a poem you might submit to the journal or read on a jam night.

infriendship
your home boy
I still miss that little bar in the basement of the Roosevelt HOtel, just for a flickering moment in time in this hole got dam universe or multiverse I felt like I was on the right planet and they tore it down and put up a swank coffee shop for investment bankers.

it's a real place - just below north ave on charles st - funky area, but i hear they have music - maybe poetry too. i liked it except for the shit i wrote about - which was basically true, but it was no big deal. where was the roosevelt?

NICE- LOVED THE CAFE- THE ATMOSPHERE- YOUR MUSINGS- PEACE :!:
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

I may be honest but I am not a poet that is why I deleted my other post about the Roosevelt Hotel.

I will try to write it for you sometime soon, kind of like Jack's remembrance of Moody St in Lowell.

So much there for me at that point in space/time. more of it coming back to me now, the dinner across the street, a twenty four hour coffee shop with the graveyard shift so quiet and interesting like Hopper's painting, can't remember the camden yards neighbor hood poor old Jack he died so young the lucky Catholic me trying to function with a geezer brain
