armistead gardens

Post by constantine » September 22nd, 2013, 11:28 am

says she's from the suburbs
ooh, the suburbs
like i never heard that before
walks around like she owns the place
and the place aint worth shit
it aint worth nothing
pawn shops and blood banks
rent a crap bullshit…
had me a burger deluxe
fry zingers and cola juice
man that's living large
excuse me while i take a piss...
that's what i'm talking about
i don't know what you're talking about
essex is not the suburbs
there are no gardens in armistead gardens
nothing grows in armistead gardens
except o'donnell heights
fucking essex
can you believe that?

I get an advantage reading this as I know where Armistead Gardens, Essex (not England) and O'Donnell Heights are.

This poem has a Bukowski anger in it----and flows like his poetry too----that's a virtue for this man of the street poem.

I'd rather read this poem a hundred times over than some shite sold in bookshops these days. Love the power. 8)
