the nothing man

the nothing man puts one foot in front of the other
his morning meanders - his evening strolls
he calls himself a flaneur, an observer
but his introspection precludes observation
still, it sounds impressive

mythologies are not built in a day
nor do they die easily
they adapt - they reconfigure
they morph into religion
the nothing man is a religion of one

in a world of apostates, he is a true believer
he adheres to the faith (watch it, he's crafty)
he reinvents, he scratches his head
he is thinking about thinking
and always comes up with something
did I say that he was a flaneur?

confronted by his failures
he has sworn off ambition
he writes poems about poems
he lies through decayed teeth
the nothing man has much to confess
but confesses nothing
when everyone knows the truth
there is nothing left to confess

nothing is gained by wondering, what if....as you point out, " all is as it should be"....

you also talk about mythology which carries on it's shoulders its most prized possession, free will......it's all just a game of craps, and often we shit the bed

there is much we can do in the service of others, even if we begin today.....what else is there really....certainly possessions won't make anyone happy...nor will titles

dagger of a poem, Dino

miss you Dino my friend
you were by no means a man of nothingness
but I follow your logic like it were my own
I stumble many days when I need to be homo erectus
I flounder like a flounder,
flapping frantically on my listing side
forever frustrated
forever the fool of my own doing
with the able assistance of course
of a world with mortal wounds
I once wanted to make a difference
now I want a cheeseburger and a nap
my get up and go, left months ago
maybe years, I can't recall
what I do recall is the pleasure
of knowing you, and calling you friend
we are nothing men forever
