fragments & fractures
body & bones
everywhere the influence
and presence
of the inextricable
existence is faceless
and is filled with countless faces
the asylum of the bright
& the buried
the memory of mind
cut off from morning
seized by sensation
exquisitely indifferent
to notions of
something better
calm amidst lost ecstacies
with only one remembering :
the stripping of the skins
off of the creatures
who stalked us & ate us
making of the pelts
blankets for the cradleboards
that held our babies
skins to stretch over the heads of our drums
& leather for the pouches
that held flint & tinder - our power to summon fire
proving there was never a time
when we were without words
never a time when we
could not speak
never a time when language
was not
jam on my friends
jam on
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Power-burst, mingo..
.. 'stripping of the skins
off of the creatures
who stalked us & ate us'..

I swear,
they won't get away with it,
and by the way, where is away?

Shit, now I put on some Sly
and the (dwindling) Family Stone, 1973.
The first track, "In Time" is lightnin' in a bottle.
They say Miles Davis was so blown away
that he made his band listen to it
thirty times in a row..

Seems like a rebuke to jam until we puke. I just jam as I am, when I can, with
no plans to puke. So roll on over me.

yeah,
damn, still listenin' to that song,
it's still playin', keep hittin' repeat
(seriously) this record stayed in my player
for more than two hours,

but what is an hour!?

yez, I see what Miles was talking about,
that incredible precision of expressing art,
even the art of being lost,
yez.
