My friends keep me sane
when little pieces of me are flying
into outer space and I'm trying to chase
them down like raindrops and pull them
back together. I am grateful!

"I get by with a little help from my friends." ..... Paul McCartney tune covered by Joe Cocker. RIP Joe Cocker who died today after a battle with cancer at the age of 70.

the singer's voice
always available
one click away
one memory ignited
a friend's hug
a feeling away
a flashback closer
affection rekindled
a sudden chill
no more voice
no more advice
alone once more

the head is the shed
where all the tools are kept
in there i got a wrench
that fixes birds
with bent necks
the mayor of words
has invited all the traders
to a feast of text
the prayers go up
and the clouds melt
around here you'll find no wrecks
we dare to flare
and not one of us is dressed as guest
because we own the place

14.
The house is closed up again.
It is not Monday. It is not daytime.
It is raining.

The last time you were in the house,
you held a Japanese fan in your hand,
waved it occasionally like a theatrical
gesture. It is not Thursday. It is not Friday.
It is raining.

As it was the last time you were in the house,
you suffer intolerable pain; you finger
a silver necklace; imagine, if you will,
a long journey is possible in the near future;
imagine yourself rising and leaving soon.
As it must, it is raining.

just read a blurb
for a book on japanese poetry
it goes : "so much of the subtle essence
of classic japanese poetry: the depth
of controlled passion,
the austere elegance of style,
the compressed richness of imagery. -
