Stormy today, wind rattling things.
I just stayed in and got into music.
I guess Winter is good for something.

went to see a band last night.
high energy blues-doused rock'n roll.
I know the frontman, the tenorman, all
down a long road, hadn't seen him in years, all
the amplified sounds keep piling up, but man the
guitarist in the closing band, double stem guitar,
had long silver hair and and a stovepipe hat, and
I can't believe a three-piece outfit sounded so much
like Ozzy! I mean, the slowish tempo metal chords
were relentless and almost put me to sleep, after
they'd come in with an almost psychedelic groove,
and I wanted to hear maybe more bass solos, but
they played that Black Sabbath tune War Pigs,
and it was live again, and I marveled at the
musicianship, I mean these guys were good..

Live music!
It's what everybody needs.
I deadlifted 125 lbs x 5 for 5 sets today.
One of my fingers is numb from the cold.
I have 2 houseguests for a few days.
I just ate a turkey and cheese and
lettuce sandwich on
toasted pita with mayo.
I'd like to have a nap but I can't sleep
during the day. My sister bought me a Fitbit
and even after 2 hours of weightlifting
it doesn't register activity. It only registers steps.
Fancy pedometer. It keeps good track of my sleep,
though. It shows I only got 5 hours last night.
I need more than that.
I'm smoking a vape.
I wish it had CBD oil in it but it doesn't.
I sent Wireman a message but he hasn't read it yet.
I hope he's OK. I bought 500 ibuprofen.
I eat them like candy some days.
Monster headaches but 4 ibuprofen always kills them.
I think I'll buy some strings for my classical guitar.
Nylon strings are easier to hold down.
I miss playing the piano every day
like when I was with LRod.
I'm painting a cigar box
Someone gave me 18 of them.
I'm thinking of painting them all
and lining them will felt and selling them
at a crafts show. I need a job.
I don't make enough money any more.
My house guests went out somewhere.
They'll be back. I'm so tired. My benchpress was weak.
I only did 55lbs x 5reps x 5 sets. Weak. One of
my fingers is so frozen,
I'm scared it's not going to ever warm up again.
Raynaud's Syndrome. There's a name for everything.
My name is Doreen. I'd love to go see some live
music but I don't want to go alone.
Sometimes I take myself out to dinner.
Table for one. I don't mind that.
But seeing a concert alone somehow doesn't seem right.
But maybe I'm wrong. I should buy tickets and make myself go.
Dance classes don't start up again for another
couple of weeks. Then another show in April.
I look forward to spring.
My hand is freezing.
5, 6, 7, 8 ... shuffle off to buffalo.
Live music! It's what everybody needs!

jam, doreen, jam
(my hands get cold too -
I soak 'em in hot water when they do)
table for one
not for me
but going solo to a concert is okay...
counting down to spring!
legal pot shop opening
30 minutes away
yay!
dog is staring at me
thinks it's his suppertime
(not yet, buddy)
but I'm getting hungry too...
the Babylonians had a beautiful method
for computing square roots
rapid convergence
but why? how does it work?
I want to take another stab
at unlocking the secret
in its infinite series...
seems like a fun project
for NYE...
okay kane
I'll feed you
and start thinking of what
to feed myself.....
(hot water, doreen -
warms my hands all the time)
please pass the jam......

It's already 2019 in Australia!
We're slower here in the US
where it's 1950 again.

5pm in Virginia.

Old friends, same way,
old year, new day,
old gym, new visit,
renovation, new equipment.
Seven hours, new year,
countdown, no fear.
Have to stop, bad pen.
Good luck. Amen.

And I can hear your voice
reciting those words,
Ms. Judih, the beauty
of the Studio, all absurdities
slipping away, this new day claimed
and we thank you, dear friend,
grateful for daybreak
observations

a little snow
2018's parting gift
not very much
just enough
to grease the roads
for 2019
to slide on in
still dark
but once it gets light
think I'll slap on the yak-trax
and the leash
and scope out this new year
see just how different
2019 looks from here

No snow here.
But chilly!

Waiting for my house guests to come back
and cook New Years dinner, postponed from
last night when they didn't come back to cook dinner.

I love them, don't get me wrong.
They just must not be nearly as hungry as I am.

This is like waiting for Mueller to finally do something about Trump.
Will it EVER happen?

*growling stomach*

So, anyway, what's next?
Is it two thousand nineteen or twenty nineteen?
I need to know!

made my usual bouillabaisse for Christmas Eve
and it was fine
and just as good Christmas Day
made my usual chili for New Year's
and it was fine, too
but then cooking for one
is easier than cooking for a crowd -
only one diner to please
and I ain't fussy
...
new Congress comin' to town
time to thump Trump
bump him into the dump
kick that lump in his bloated rump
the fucking chump...
...
for me, it was two-thousand one,
two-thousand two,
up to two-thousand-nine...
but then I wavered between
two-thousand (insert two-digit number here)
and twenty (insert two-digit number here),
but seem to have settled on twenty.
Hope this helps. An anxious nation
breathes a sigh of relief......

Yum! Sounds delicious!

They're on the way back
to cook pork roast, Puerto Rican style,
rice and beans, while
I watch Twilight Zone
marathon on SyFy.

Bring on the new congress!
Let's get this thing started before the country
is totally destroyed. That dude's a dick.
Let's get him out quick!

I've said two thousand since two thousand,
eighteen years. I'm going to switch to twenty now.
Twenty nineteen. Has a certain ring to it.
Twenty twenty coming soon.
Let us have a clear vision of a more positive future!

OMG, I"ve died and gone to heaven.
Pork roast that melts in your mouth!
Further proof that everything that's worth anything
is worth waiting for.

What are you waiting for?
Tell me your dreams.
Anything you can imagine is possible
it seems.
