The Existentialist in the Irony of Reflection Questions the Origin of a Tree

The Existentialist, looks at a tree and questions its origin and realizes […] because of the ‘paradox of the seed’ and as to what came first, the tree or the seed, there is no origin and says, ‘the tree is orphaned by existence to explain how the tree came into being.’ The Existentialist, upon his philosophical walk, closes his eyes and understands, ‘then it is the same for me’. His realization of himself keeps his eyes closed, whereupon he bumps his head into a tree. The suffering that entails sends him to a Metaphysician. Upon relating his story, the Existentialist asks the Metaphysician, “Where is the origin of my headache?”

the existentialist would never ask the metaphysician anything
he would simply assume that the cause of his headache is his head
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

Existentialism is in error of its own symbol logic construct

The existentialist negotiated a headache with a tree!
He carried his headache with him.

The Metaphysician - well - she didn't say anything!

the origin of our headaches is that we keep our eyes closed
(while demanding lamps and torches, complaining that it is too dark to see)

poetry as libidinal space

Post by sweetwater » December 9th, 2008, 3:15 pm

semiotics - the ambiguity of interpretation
all within a construct
of language system

eyes being
closed only
means a referencing
to whatever happens
when you're eyes are closed

the emotional bi-reference
of space and a polarity
existing between them

it is whether and how the paradox
is negotiated

Like Spock would say,"fascinating." Being neither an existentialist nor a metaphysician, all I can say it I dunno. ;)
