Conquest

Post by goldenmyst » February 11th, 2009, 8:28 pm

This poem was inspired by an event which occurred several years ago. I was part of a group therapy group led by a young but assertive and highly intelligent woman. There was a man in our group who had been released from a maximum security prison. One morning we were having a peaceful discussion and this man got violently angry. He said my friend, David, who sat across from him, was looking at him wrong. He jumped out of his chair and started to take his coat off, clearly intending to assault my friend.

The young social worker approached the former prisoner and touched him with her fingertips on the neck and back. As soon as her skin made contact with him, his arms fell to his side and his mouth feel open. The instant she touched him, he looked dazed and vulnerable, as though she had cast a spell on him. It was almost like he was a marionette and she was the puppeteer. She had complete control of him and he simply followed along as she ushered him out.

Conquest

Velveteen touch
Wrapped snugly
Round phallic aggression
Contralto seduction
Soothing addled testosterone
With languid words
Tender triumph
Like a tropic storm
Warm and wet
Gathering strength
For feminine foray
Into golden ecstasy

just one touch
is all it takes
to awaken one's
buried feelings
sometimes hidden
too long to remember

good piece, john...

mtmynd, a touch can transform a dull day into a great one. Whenever I go the my hair stylist, her touch, as she massages and washes my head, gives me deep peace. I come out transformed.

Once my supervisor spontaneously gave me a back and neck massage while I sat at my computer. When she finished I felt deep pleasure and serenity. Touch can heal.

Absolutely, John. I'm sure you've heard said the child that receives not the touch of his/her parents will not live long... so powerful touch is.

what a wonderful story john. we all need touch. and maybe that was really all that man needed. in some people pain comes out as anger. and a simple touch is all it takes to defuse them. thanks for sharing.
