Sidewalk Susie sashays along
Her peepers shade the world
Her bughouse mind
One hinge short of a nuthouse door
Smackhead street walker
Rides the poppy train
Glassy eyed angel hipster
Blitzed out on life
Fleecing the cream-sticks
Turning tricks for Daddy Warbucks
Only Johns degraded
In her hungry hustle

well, it's been a long slog, it took me many years to find my flow, and even then it wasn't until i got my first computer that i began writing all the time all over the place, cyberspace, hyperspace. Before that it was typing on a used typewriter, but i wasn't born with a mouse in my hand, maybe reborn. But when i began living the poet life, and that is what i call it because, to me that is and was my life, i explored the poet realms, i met poets, and some famous ones too, it inspired me, and directed my energy, and i always just was and am just another bozo on the back of the bus.

Craig, your account of your "poet's life" is familiar to me. I too didn't really begin my more prolific and mature phase as a poet till the internet came along. I wrote a lot in before the internet but it was sophomoric and not on the level of what I've written since. Then life experiences falling into love, divorce, death of loved ones, the struggle to survive in the aftermath, gave me the emotional background to really write at my best. Thanks for sharing your story. I am really impressed with your writing and plan to get your book soon. You are truly a maestro poet.

another thing, i have been writing poetry since 1970, and i submitted some poems several years ago to some place in New York, well, no dice.
So, then i came to the conclusion i had to write a poetic novel, the idea being that it would begin to tell the story of a poet, me.I then realized that i could just write a novel about my teenage years, in the late 60's where it all began. My so-to-speak pre-poet years, that would in fact be written from the perspective of the teen i was flashing back and forward to the poet i am in the future. So the novel is written by a poet, that never wrote a novel before, has not studied novel writing in school or books, but i have read a lot of books and novels, so the action moves quickly, without any transition for the quick changes, its kinda like what i call a poem novel, when reading a poem the lines just follow one another, but may or may not adhere to the line above, but will sense the movement and flow.I do also, suddenly jump into poetic prose, that is like the places my mind was experiencing while going through these changes, and finally it does tell a story.
