the Empire
It seemed as interesting to talk about the idea of oath and whether a society was free and whether it had to be free of every oath in other to experience 'freedom'. A freedom from oath. Or that a free society could be translated into it being 'free' of oath, and therefore it freed itself from any contrivance or manipulation, or preference to any organization other than that of 'being' free! And wasn't 'freedom' a threat to the Empire and its control? That citizens and citizenship was paradoxically pledging its allegiance to an Empire of control, that was manipulated by its allegiances under oath? Wasn't this the paradox of freedom?
