Way back in when on Kauai, when the first surfers came to hanalei, Florence let these young people camp in her yard and shower at her house. Mary kenney was catholic and had 9 children, his father died two weeks before he was born- she drove accross chatsworth, california praying novinas-
the kids were pretty wild- she sought Gods help....
They fought quite a bit, and Mary sought peace whenever and wherever she could find it. One day sandy did not let Gordon use her typewriter-and he went as a little kid and shot himself- he said he felt like John Wayne.
Charlie, Tom and Gordon moved to hanalei, and with those blue eyes charmed mr and mrs ching with his humor, and became thier hanai boy.
20 years later Jana and her two young sons
moved to hanalei- opened a shop in ching young village-
Gordon had a daughter with alpin, Natalie rose.
Jana and Gordon got together after her divorse from the father of her children.During this time-Jana was drinking after two years of recovery was in relapase-
bobo came over and said" until you get sober,
my grandchildren cannot come over "devastated that her children were deprived of friendship due to her drinking"
she got sober

Being sober in hanalei in 1989 was pretty unusual- there are many stories- however- Gordon had recently almost died of pancreatitis and liver disease- and the night before he had asked her out, her reply after he stuck his hand up her dress and she slapped him in the face. He asked her out and she told him" I'm not bouncing back the same way, I need to stay sober"
he asked her if she could go out with him and watch him drink"
"nope,"she said.
That night he overdosed on herion and she assumed it was all her fault.
Self centered to the extreme, she went to visit him in the hospital- Tom was watching over him- she said"how long did they say it would be before you can get it up?"

i wasnt going to go to the north shore for a month- the range of emotions when someone dies that you were close to- is powerful- when i saw him last he seemed like he got up on the cross and showed everyone what it would be like if they did meth, herion, pain medication and alot of booze, I thought when ratface died that would trick him into recovery- the desire did not seem to be enough.to stay clean, the support system over time was what worked... That web is so easily torn...by knee surguries and physical ailiments,
yeah im sad, but i am also angry- i tried hard to pump life into you and you smacked out all over me-i loved you and you broke my heart- seeing you like that made it wrose, the sadness, and now its like a relief, except everyone wants to share with me the great times we had, and yeah we did- but i can forgive, when can i forget?
