i attempted to look into those eyes
i spotted walking down the path
but when the person stopped
for a breath, i presume, the eyes
refused to meet mine while they
scanned the horizon miles away
it's moments such as these
that bewilder the bewildered
not knowing what is in minds
that stare far into the unknown
knowing not what they know
but it is not mine to know
knowing the unknown is not
a knowable thing to grasp
eyes have it
eyes have it

man, but we gotta lotta
impressive new toys now!
really dangerous ones now!
and some swelled heads too
stare far into the unknown?
or further into the known?
here in babble on . . .
fuck it, how about some ice cream?

i have looked into eyes like that
i called it ceremony eyes or walkng in two worlds

reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

it can sometimes be annoying
or oddly unsettling when
they look away
their thoughts engaged
with some path or horizon
unshared
and yet, when it happens,
i figure their souls need to
roam
had they looked?
had their eyes seen our own?
they would have stared
straight through to
the bottom of
your shoe
and never even
seen you
anyway
sometimes
even our own eyes
turn and walk away
.........
enjoyed your poem, Cecil! ... thanks for always being inspiring

Sometimes I look away when I need to be in my head. It's like a not now thing....not rejection.
Sometimes I look away because I instantly, (enterically) don't like you. My guts speaks before my mind does. I don't want to encourage.
Sometimes I do want to encourage and so will make the effort.
I suppose people who look away from me are probably in the same sort of spaces.
But I don't know.
