Sir Cedric Oraptic

Post by happytrails » October 28th, 2010, 7:04 pm

I remember that little gray mouse
And how he died that day
With all his clan around him
As they prayed him on his way.

I remember how they carried him
Still twitching in the trap
And placed him gently in the box
And solemnly sealed the flap.

I remember how they scurried
Up and down from floor to floor
I watched in awe and wondered
What they were looking for.

I remember the squeal of triumph
When their search was done
They'd found great-granddad's helmet
That he'd worn in World War One.

I remember how they all took turns
As they dug the hole outside
On that rainy Monday morning
Then they buried him and cried.

I remember that day each time I look out
And see that tiny grave
It saddens my heart and causes me
To regret the choices I have made

I remember that little gray mouse
And how he died that day
He has a helmet for a headstone
And on it is his name

Sir Cedric Oraptic; I Remember!
