30th birthday wish

Post by joel » November 10th, 2010, 3:47 pm

You truly are a god who hides your soul,
a god who wrestles—something maybe more
like personality than person, soft
in clarity and rigid in the scars
that give a basic outline of your love
to those who know you, those who’d be your friends;
you truly are a god who hides like I
do: wounded and reformed. But do you cry
too? It’s been said, when earth and heaven ends,
there won’t be any crying. Tell me of
the tears you say you’ll wipe away, then. Stars
will fall and you will catch them; when I’ve coughed
and cried and bled my eyes, will you do more
for me? Love me? Will you come hide with Joel?

That is sooooo beautiful! You're such a fine writer!

Happy Birthday, Joel!

There's also a birthday wish for you in the Discussion forum. :)

I hope you do something fun and special today to celebrate!

Sounds more like a prayer than a wish. I like the personality/person line. And if it is/was your birthday I wish you happiness. jim

Tonight(at least it is night where I write) I have made a nice discovery in finding your poetry. No big deal? When you read as much as I do of poetry, you know a good thing when it comes ( not a regular thing) and want to sit back and appreciate it. Words are words, but when they carry themselves well and work for their keep as your words do then it is a time you say thank you.

Stars
will fall and you will catch them; when I’ve coughed
and cried and bled my eyes, will you do more
for me? Love me? Will you come hide with Joel? ( Love this)
