the sax art ate

the sax art ate the licorice sidewalk
as he wept on the school of mummies
was coming down from the dark ages
crossing the drag I ran into a dark book
doing hoodoo at the hour of lost ego
she opened her arms of paper moons
and stood there on the curb like Eve
spitting cherry pits at the last drunk Buddha
the fire down below was making jazz signs
the penny arcade tore a crown of ashcans
my confession booth memory turned quickly on
the corner, and arcane leaves began to fall
like diamonds of prophecy into the gyp gutter
of butter, the utter void of her trench coat eyes
tore holes in the conversations passing by
the postage stamp standing in the sere rain
watched the marching ant cars pass like blind mice
a huge erupting host of spinning mirrors rose up
from the pavement and cried bloody mary
down the narrow alley Freud danced on pins
and needles of the entire western civilization
as the street crazy watched from his vantage
and the word man chanted profanities at points
of departure & unknowns.....a under the bridge
