Don't bother.

Post by joel » March 22nd, 2011, 2:20 pm

Don’t bother now to call on me. I’m old
and so are you; my ears are silent masked.
But I was here when we were young— I told
you I would help you— never once you asked.
Remember how I used to be: Adonis
and attractive to your eyes, but only
from a distance— now your sight is gone
and never will you see what I’d have shown
you. Here I am!— I used to echo it.
You hadn’t asked for me. You didn’t care.
I used to climb on mountains, now I sit
alone and hidden— now I blankly stare
at you, to whom I’d stretched my youth-filled hand—
and you receive my love the way you’d planned.
Isaiah 65:1-2
I was ready to be sought out by those who did not ask,
to be found by those who did not seek me.
I said, ‘Here I am, here I am’,
to a nation that did not call on my name.
I held out my hands all day long
to a rebellious people,
who walk in a way that is not good,
following their own devices....
