Your mother loved
Eddie Cochran
At least she bought
His records and
Had his picture
On the walls of
The house and your
Father used to
Spit on them as
He went by and
Got all jealous
And would rant and
Rave but your young
Mother would turn
The record up
Louder and dance
Around the room
And laugh but in
The year Eddie
Was killed in the
Taxicab crash
And Gene Vincent
Was injured (whom
She loved as well
And had his small
Picture inside
Her black purse) your
Father said he
(Eddie Cochran
Deserved what he
Got all right and
That led to one
Hell of a fight
And your mother
Swung the saucepan
At your father’s
Head and he grabbed
Her around the
Waist and she swung
And cursed and swore
And you just sat
And watched and stared
And listened as
Eddie sang from
The hi-fi loud
And clear and his
Ghostly shadow
Seemed to sway to
And fro as your
Mother hit your
Father with the
Big saucepan blow
After blow and
Sickening blow.
MOTHER LOVED EDDIE.

Re: MOTHER LOVED EDDIE.
an intriguing story rife with emotion and innocence, a child perplexed by the puzzle of adult behavior, marked in time by the musicians on the scene.....has an authentic air about it...

Re: MOTHER LOVED EDDIE.
So, Terry, as I said before, another good story. Vivid images and well chosen words to tell a story of adult behaviour and childish confusion. I like it very much. And I remember Eddie and Gene too.
