jesus in texas (another jesus poem)

Post by mnaz » April 19th, 2011, 5:20 pm

out on the miserable flats of texas
is a diner, one of those fifties joints
with round bar stools, greasy chrome
filthy ceiling fans stuck on slow
sultry grime, stains on stain
motionless vane

the juke box plays only hank
the old zenith beams in grainy preachers
gesticulating, wailing
the gospel good news
thick in the air like sweat
jesus now takes visa
