We spent thousands of dollars
On our children’s education
Friends advised that we send them to State colleges
Less expensive they said
Not as prestigious we replied.
After spending money, time and energy
We have little to brag about
Our children,
Young adults now,
Part of a lost generation,
Have come back home
Desperate about their futures
Unable to find jobs.
There are moments when
We feel that we
Have failed them
But our children are tougher than we think
They do their part
They network
They are computer savvy
They know they must start
In jobs lower than expected
After all
Wasn’t it said
Generations ago
That without a future
There can be no tomorrow?

Re: The Price of College
I'm glad to see people writing about this stuff, as the tendency seems to be denial, as if, if we speak it becomes real.....when it's been real for some time now...and it's going to get much worse.......seeing this...recording this, does not mean you are a fatalist...it means you have your eyes open....and it could mean you wonder, does anyone feel this way too.....I hope we can all talk about these changes....how the security, the patterns are changing.....nice work
