ripened ~

Post by keithalanhamilton » May 8th, 2011, 8:53 am

~ I
yes me ~
not so different
than the old crabapple tree
long ago rooted to the ground
out in the yard
ripened ~
but still able to live out the day
dwell under the moon
survive the seasons
simply to begin again
at springtime ~
to blossom
under the sun
~ I
yes me ~
after decades ~
following much given
by way of love for family
and too ~ seasoned
with the lessons learned
while living freely the experience
of choices ~ I’ve made
as an everyday person
which has molded
~ my unique character
~ my design for individuality
sort of like some brand identity
as if somehow ~ I could
be marketed that way
and yet ~ setting me apart
or as being ~
somewhat distinct ~ I guess
from all the rest
~ I
yes me ~
in later years
dwelling on this place
my home called earth
have a wanting
a desire to right now ~
driven by the spirit
of the gods ~ as if
from that creative source
to give out ~
way ~ way
more than I’ve taken
from all else in nature ~ in life
no matter if ~
my humble efforts
are so deemed ~ as if to be
insignificant or not
~ I
yes me ~
have this solemn hope
as to what I choose to do
through word and deed
is in some way ~ a contribution
one ~ that’s beneficial
and in its utmost ~ helpful
or at least
within a small way
a fine example
holding out ~
enough encouragement
so others ~ themselves
have this confidence ~
a purpose to go on
~ not so different
than the old crabapple tree
long ago rooted to the ground
out in the yard
ripened ~
but still able to live out the day
dwell under the moon
survive the seasons
simply to begin again
at springtime ~
to blossom
under the sun

the cycles of the tree no different than the cycles of man........we are intrinsically entwined like un-pruned branches....yet as a human we are uniquely qualified to give back to the earth, her people, her nature in special ways.....like volunteering, listening to a friend etc. etc..............nice reflections Keith
