fucking let it go

Post by joel » August 29th, 2011, 11:58 am

You’re never happy. Never— never— no—
and now I’ve noticed how obnoxious I
become when, nauseated, I ignore
your misery with hope you’ll smile again
with something more than the acidic grin
that spins your soul’s superlatives of hell.
I’m sorry, but you’re never happy. See,
I’m pretty sure you never wanna be,
you never wanna lose the edge to tell
bad news, you never wanna know the “sin”
that shows you chose a life delighted in.
And yet you did— decided to adore
your miseries. This damned disease you’d die
from: fucking let it go. Just let it go.

it's painful being around someone that cannot escape their self destructive actions, and from the outside we can only suggest alternative models of living....
I know someone like this, hunkered down in her twisted martyrdom, and she is unreachable.....in this case there are surely mental health issues that need attention, but there is often a point of no return......no getting over it, if you will, only more of the downward spiral that has run amok....it's sad......not sure of your exact intent of course.....but this struck a personal chord with me joel....which is why we write....
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Definitely hit a note for me, it can be toxic to find comfort in the certainty of negativity. Negative is always "there," it doesn't disappoint by being flighty and ephemeral, it can go on for as long as you need something to cling to. I can see why humans can have an affinity towards negativity, we all do embrace it to some degree in some fashion, but a poisoned mind and heart that only seeks out negativity is a tough situation to deal with, especially in someone who you care about. It can be tough to watch that shit spiral down, hard to know when someone may pull out of it or when someone will be reduced to lows that are the festering breeding grounds for being arrested or committing suicide, just plain hard to watch people put themselves and those around them through that. I agree, a lot of times it can be mental issues causing a bad loop. Too much positivity in the air to be had if only reached for, too much to live for to make negativity the focal point. Great writing, thanks for sharing, hope the person pulls out of it sooner than later

pity party
pitiful prison
partly self-erected
mostly particular
circumstances,
rejected,
infected with perilous
putrid phlegm,
regurgitated again
and again, pitiful
party prison,
no money,
no love,
no touch,
and in as much
as a roof can cover
her head, such
a hurricane can
blow it to bits,
winds hundreds
of miles per hour,
the power of a lack
of a dollar creating
squalor and mental
pain, an ice pick
precisely pointed
at the brain.

nothing to tame
the wild incoming
hurricane.

pity party, partly
self-erected, mostly,
though,
caused by the interjected
hole beyond her control,
cannot dig out,
cannot climb,
no ladder to build
this time.

pity party
may have won.
get her a gun.

I think, after all is said and done, it's negativity that lets us go. We just relax into it, quit fighting...and then...voila, release!

There's a thin red line between hanging on and letting go.

anti-procrastinating is just making anti-procrastinating an automatic habit, add as many things as apply to a reasonable daily checklist, and check off every time you do things from the checklist, use a reward/penalty system and treat yourself for meeting goals, edit and combine and delete and delay minor steps that can be more efficiently managed and redo the checklist, meet clear and reasonable deadlines and edit and combine and delete and facilitate. put plenty of time allocated as creatively as you want, grow and grow and grow it all gets better because doing your best to get through it is pushing the pedal for the car to get you to the future of oh my god it's a traffic jam, hey ho, everybody go, slow lane traffic done infected our brains, meat nor drink nor money have i none, still, i will, be merry, very merry, hey, ho, nobody home

Sounds like you got a handle on it, James. I'll have to have a talk with her and send her your advice. ;)
