once i thought that love
was something that I gave
it is
but so much more-the complexities
of socialization reach deeper into the soul
love takes you and holds you in the darkest hour
when all the dreams you had yesterday
went south like a herd of buffalo
get up and dust yourself off babay
because soon all that love is going to reveal
a deeper truth about me, about you
no things cannot really go backwards
of one thing i am sure
love is much more than what one person can give
there are components to love
like trust
support
honesty
when i can believe that all of those things hold hands
only then will i allow
that kind of love again
no amount of pomp and power has ever been able to rule my heart
like wild horses running
i am free
i just know
certain things about today
i did not know yesterday
