maybe
i should just pause
for minutes
before i speak a phrase
the words tonight
are flat tires
getting me nowhere
said too damn much
stupid words
battering the heart
like waves a beach
but that metaphor
too pristine
for these dirty opened cans
of words
worms
yeah worms
that was what was expected
but
okay disgust
spit on the sidewalk
what can anyone do
to roar
the inner anguish?
amazing the goals
lost
down
gone
beaten
defeated
hopeless
if I were Samuel Beckett
I'd be witty
or poignant
I know everybody has left
i'm sitting in my own words
corner of an empty room
except for me, the words
the empty eyes
i should say sunlight
rose
the river gleams
the wind jostles
nudges
provokes
create a different world
it depends on the words
Warhol soup cans

Monologue From the Top
The Irish Sea Is Always In Turmoil, Even When Calm.
Re: Monologue From the Top
Fine work & theme.
Re: Monologue From the Top
you seem to be emphasizing the old saying, It's lonely at the top.....I guess if we get too predictable the crowds will look for the next fresh voice....a neo-poet with pizzaz.....enjoyed the poem........
